Job Description - Network Engineer Principal (2003584)Job Description DynCorp International LLCNetwork Engineer Principal2003584Primary Location: UNITED STATES-VIRGINIA-SPRINGFIELDSecurity Clearance: Top Secret Job SummaryThe Network Engineer Principal oversees the complex installation, analysis, evaluation, and support of network communications including LAN/WAN systems for assigned business are or program.Principal AccountabilitiesEvaluates current network systems to propose and implement network system enhancementsDefines, designs, and implements network solutionsApplies advanced network engineering and architecture knowledge on complex and diverse problems where analysis of situation requires in-depth evaluation of various factors. May oversee network systems projects. Designs, installs, supports, and maintains new network hardware and software infrastructure.Provides right-sized network solutions that meet all program and enterprise requirements.Allocates network resources, monitors network performance and usage, and ensures most cost effective and efficient use of network resources.Ensures all IT equipment complies with industry and regulatory standards.Troubleshoots, analyses, and resolves faults in operational networks.Ensures routine preventative maintenance and license compliance is performed.Works closely with the program technical lead to write, validate, and implement accurate technical process documentation that is reviewed and approved by the Enterprise Network standards working group. Provides training and support for installation, deployment and integration team members to ensure hardware configuration and installation procedures and policies are correctly implemented.Performs other duties as assigned.Knowledge & SkillsAbility to remain current on Cisco platformsStrong working knowledge of Cisco routing and switching on current hardware platforms, particularly Cisco Catalyst 9000 and 3800 series switches, and Cisco 4000 Series ISR routers.Strong customer service skills working with a diverse, multi-national customer base, and the ability to simplify and communicate complex technical concepts, both verbally and written.Highly self-motivated and works effectively within a small team of engineers or independently, with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environmentCisco DNA Center and SD Access experience a plusDemonstrates independent problem-solving skillsDemonstrate good written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with internal and external customersExperience & EducationBachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, or related field; one (1) year of experience in related field can be substituted for each year of the four (4) years of college.Cisco CCNP Routing and Switching Certification strongly preferred.Six (6) years of experience in network engineering.Physical Requirements/Working EnvironmentCONUS: Generally, works in normal office environment, but remote telework may be authorized in certain situations.
