Our certified and credentialed cost engineers and cost estimators routinely support the planning, design and construction of domestic and international construction and environmental projects for the Department of State, Department of Defense, civilian federal agencies, and state/local municipalities. Our team is highly proficient with current, customer-preferred software, including MII(R), PACES(R), P6(R), Sage Estimating(R), and SUCCESS(R). DESCRIPTIONThe Senior Design Manager shall supervise the planning, scoping development, budget development and contract oversight for large, complex construction projects in the Middle East as part of Michael Baker's PMO support team. This position requires a broad, technical background and experience with disciplines including architecture, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and structural engineering. Responsibilities include planning, scheduling, negotiation, coordination, communications and contracting. You will have experience with USACE procedures, design development procedures and project management principles. Our Client's programs provide all infrastructure requirements for assigned projects. All projects sites/facilities are to be built from the ground up to include all infrastructures. The projects can include equipment systems, related facilities (tactical facilities) along with non-tactical facilities which will support the equipment systems (ie barracks, DFACS, HQs, etc.). Major duties include:Assisting our client's Design Managers (DM) with the planning, scope development, budget development, and contract oversight of significant Engineering design deliverables in coordination with the customer, the project manager and other project team members as it impacts project quality, cost and schedule.Assisting the client's DMs in the preparation of design budgets and design schedules. Supporting and maintain schedules by client DMs and PMs for all design QA review packages and report accurate and up to date schedules in appropriate management systems.Providing technical counsel to project manager, coordinating frequently to ensure proper definition of scope, schedule and requirements are understood and communicated.Solving, advising and evaluating complex design management issues.Providing funds control, resource planning, contract oversight and project scheduling.Documenting guidance and direction for design teams.Developing manhour estimates and design budgets.Developing design schedule to integrate into overall project schedule.Integrating requirements into a design management plan (DMP).Providing input into the quality management plan (QMP).Performing administrative functions such as employee management, performance reviews, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, and making procurement decisions.PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTSA minimum of 10 years' experience in the A/E and construction industry.5 years' experience with US Government clients such as USACE, DOE/NNSA, DOS and DHS. Preferably in a project leadership role.Experience with overseas construction, preferably in Saudi Arabia and Qatar.A Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or related field.Active PE, or RA, is required.
