Position Summary Assists in maintaining financial records and ensuring that financial transactions are properly recorded. Ensures the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger. Compiles financial data to aid department management in the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports. Assists in analyzing current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following . Other duties may be assigned.Prepares, reconcile and analyze assigned general ledger accountsPrepares and review of tax records to be filed by the MFA with appropriate taxing authorities, including records maintenance to support all tax returns as filed, coordinate with supervisor and GWU tax office for purposes of interpreting tax regulations, and developing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all laws, statutes and regulations.Complete daily cash backup and prepares cash receipt entry and miscellaneous cash deposits including credit card transactions.Complete monthly journal entries, prepare accruals and supplement schedulesParticipate in month-end, quarter and yearly close activities to maintain integrity and accuracy of MFA financial records. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance preferred or applicable job related experience.Experience 2-4 years of experience in the accounting field or in related area; knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the accounting field; Must be able to work independently with instructions. Usually relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
