As Staff Accountant, you will prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, various aspects of internal reporting will be under your responsibility. Lend your skills towards developing and implementing accounting policies. Also, you will participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This position plays an intricate part in producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Located in the Annapolis, Maryland area, this position is a challenging, multi-faceted opportunity to work for a company that recognizes and rewards hard work.What you get to do every day- Manage depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation- Ad hoc reporting and performing special projects upon request- Support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process, which includes monthly financial close workbook preparation- Conduct month end close and compose journal entries with minimal supervision- Organize schedules for monthly payments and capital lease- Compose thorough journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll- Handle intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliation- Maintain, implement, and adhere to internal controls. Also ensure that accounting procedures comply with GAAP- Organize and review a variety of financial data, reporting it in a way that is useful and understandable- In-depth experience with reconciling month end balance sheet accounts- Regular maintenance and reconciliation of journal entries- Produce analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for reporting by management- Take part in various department-wide initiativesJob Requirements:- Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required- Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems- Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases- Solid understanding of Month-end Close Activities- Proficient in ERP systems- Detailed and have the ability work independently- Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment- BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics- Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis- Spreadsheet and database capabilities- Recent and relevant accounting experienceRobert Half Finance & Accounting matches skilled finance and accounting professionals in the areas of accounting, bookkeeping, finance, audit, taxation and more on a full-time basis.
