Job Description Summary: Conducts tests and field investigations to obtain data for use by construction, engineering, and architectural clientele and company personnel by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Collects and prepares samples for analysis in accordance with established protocols. Conducts field tests according to prescribed standards to determine characteristics or composition of concrete, soil samples and other substances in the field. Prepares sample for testing, records data, prepares summaries and charts for review, and develops a report detailing activities performed and results received. Manages the timeliness and accuracy of reports and information by following all report protocols consistently. May calibrate monitoring equipment to provide proper flow of information. Installs operates, and perform routine maintenance on mechanical equipment, and test instrumentation. Assists with the installation of equipment and instrumentation, including calibration; troubleshooting as needed. Must be able to operate fixed or mobile data collection stations and equipment as needed. Audits properties of samples collected to identify conditions. Examines and investigates select materials and conditions on project site locations. Informs Project Manager and client personnel of progress, issues, risks and actions on a day-to-day basis. Is consistently professional, effective and courteous in communication, conduct and appearance.Job Requirements:Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Minimum requirements: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. College Degree and/or experience preferred. Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization if necessary. Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in predominantly standardized situations. Computer Skills: No Computer skills needed, but basic abilities desired. Certificates and Licenses: Valid Driver's License and current MVR report. No sampling certification required for hire. Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
