Job Announcement

The Fairfax County Health Department is a progressive public health leader providing services that promote population health, protect public health and the environment, and ensure residents' equitable access to health services and information. Administers the health department's third-party reimbursement processes following policy and procedures in accordance with third party contracts and county policy. Analyzes financial transactions to ensure compliance with third-party reimbursement contracts. Processes financial documents and reviews audit documents from medical EMR and Fairfax County's financial system (FOCUS). Provides regular oversight to departmental field staff in the area of third-party reimbursement and other financial processes. Conducts appropriate reconciliation of accounts. Acts as the administrator to insurance portals to ensure current patient eligibility and bank portals for financial reporting.

Note: The assigned functional areas of the position are general office administration, billing, and general financial services.

Ability to perform data entry into Purchasing/Logistics Enterprise Resource Planning systems and/or Financial Enterprise Resource Planning systems in at least eight functions.

Personnel and Payroll
Ability to perform all human Capital Management Enterprise Resource Planning system functions.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to high school graduation and four years of experience providing administrative support in the assigned functional area(s).

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Not applicable.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will have five (5) or more years of experience in Third-Party medical insurance billing, with three (3) years in a public health setting. Must be able to work independently or with a team in a fast-paced environment. Experience in an environment requiring multi-tasking with an attention to detail. Must have excellent computer skills in the use of various office computer software such as Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. Candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate (oral and written).

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to the position must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check, a child protective services check and a sanction screening.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employee is required to walk, stand, sit, bend, kneel, climb stairs and carry equipment up to 25 pounds in weight as required for the position. Uses hands to grasp, handle or feel. Visual acuity is required to read data on a computer monitor. Ability to operate keyboard driven equipment. Position frequently communicates and must be able to exchange accurate information with others verbally and in writing. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
