Summary

This position is part of the Defense Human Resources Activity. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting in the management and formulation of program goals, long-range plans, schedules, policies, and guidance for the principal DMDC staff offices and functions in the organization, in coordination with the DMDC Chief of Staff and the Director.

Responsibilities

As a Staff Advisor (Business Operations) at the GS-0301-13/14 some of your typical work assignments may include:
  • Coordinates centralized administrative management initiatives involving legislative affairs, budget execution, oversight and review, and strategic planning.
  • Serves as Staff Advisor/coordinator for the Director DMDC on assigned projects.
  • Advises and assists the DMDC Chief of Staff and the DMDC Director/Deputy Director on all policy and evaluation matters for programs and organizations having DoD and Federal-wide impact such as Human Resource Management, Identity Management and DoD Benefits and Eligibility.
  • The incumbent collaborates and communicates across DMDC Directorates for the management of DMDC day-to-day mission operations, transmits the needs and decisions of the Director and the appropriate staff elements, and provides administrative and operational program direction to various Directors and their staffs.
  • Assists the Chief of Staff in managing the daily basic business of DMDC by overseeing demand and supply plans, projecting future requirements and performance metrics and supporting the development and execution of the Strategic Plan.
  • Plans, and participates in responding to special tasks from/for the DMDC Chief of Staff concerning operational issues including the evaluation of the efficiency and effectiveness of current programs, and feasibility of future programs, and development of planning efforts.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:
  • Assist in the coordinated efforts to establish and maintain administrative management procedures to facilitate and streamline the agency's business operations.
  • Assists on policy and evaluation matters for programs and organizations having DoD and Federal-wide impact.
  • Supports management in the development of program formulation and the execution of strategic Plans for the Agency.
  • You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

    A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service:
  • Conducts coordinated efforts to establish and maintain administrative management procedures to facilitate and streamline the agency's business operations.
  • Lead policy and evaluation matters for programs and organizations having DoD and Federal-wide impact.
  • Supports management in the development of program formulation and the execution of strategic Plans for the Agency.
  • Advise senior DoD leadership on organizational policy changes to Human Resource Management, Identity Management and DoD Benefits and Eligibility.
  • Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
