Joining the Secret Service, Office of Chief, Uniformed Division as a Student Trainee (Uniformed Officer Support) will introduce the Uniformed Division Officer position through structured training and hands-on experiential rotational assignments. Responsibilities

The selectee will serve as a Student Trainee (Uniformed Officer Support) in the Office of the Chief, Uniformed Division. Typical work assignments include:

• Assist with escorting pre-approved civilians and contractors to pre-determined locations.
  
• Assist with observation, pedestrian, and traffic control during protectee movements
• Assist with managing large groups during public tours and vehicle fleet management.
  
• Assist with administrative duties as needed.

Must have cumulative grade point average of 2.5 high school/undergraduate; or 3.0 graduate at time of application and throughout internship appointment.

Must be at least 16 years or older.

Submit to a drug test prior to your appointment and random drug testing while you occupy the position.

Certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so, if you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959.

Upon boarding, you must sign a Pathways Participant Agreement and a Non-Disclosure Agreement.

Qualifications

GS-2: You qualify for the GS-2 level (starting salary $28,672) if you possess the following:

• Completion of high school or GED diploma.

GS-3: You qualify for the GS-3 level (starting salary $31,284) if you possess the following:

• Completion of 1 full academic year of post-high school study.

GS-4: You qualify for the GS-4 level (starting salary $35,119) if you possess the following:

• Completion of 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree.

Education

Education must be obtained from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet Federal qualification requirements if you can show that your foreign education is comparable to education received in accredited educational institutions in the United States. UNIFORMED DIVISION COHORT PROGRAM:

This Uniformed Division Cohort program is designed to introduce the Student Trainee to the Uniformed Division Officer (UD) position through structured, introductory agency-guided training and hands on experiential learning rotational assignments with the intent to have student trainees apply to become UD officers.

Student Trainees who meet the eligibility requirements after successful completion of one year in the program will have the option to apply for consideration to the UD position through an accelerated process.

This is a unique program which is different from any other United States Secret Service Student Trainee positions. The program requires 18 - 27 hours of in-classroom training rather than having to complete 640 hours in a typical pathways program. Completion of the program does not guarantee employment as a Uniformed Division Officer.

PATHWAYS PROGRAM COMPLETION AND CONVERSION ELIGIBILITY:

Program participants may be converted, without a break in service, to a term, career or career conditional appointment upon completion of program requirements. To be eligible for conversion, Student Trainee Intern must:

• Successfully complete academic course of study.
• Complete a minimum of 640 hours of work experience under the Internship Program.
• Meet OPM qualification standards for the position the Intern will be converted.
• Maintain acceptable performance under the agency's approved performance management system.
• Receive favorable recommendation for conversion from Supervisor.

It is important to remember that eligibility for conversion does not guarantee that the agency will decide to opt for conversion.
