Job Duties:

*Reviews clinical information and determines appropriate level of care for the patient after consulting with the attending physician.
*Provides clinical information to the charge nurse if the patient is admitted to the in-patient unit
*Contacts managed care representatives, third party payers, primary physicians or other relevant persons in order to provide clinical and/or demographic information required to verify insurance and/or obtain authorization for clinical services.
*Answers all incoming phone calls from persons and providers requesting acute clinical services for psychiatry to determine appropriate level of care and Refers patients, as clinically indicated, to external services when a service is not provided within the array BH&WS programs.
*Schedules clinical evaluations in the Electronic Medical record
*Provides clinical triage services to the Emergency Department, NAC office and other hospital departments where appropriate.
*Documents all calls in the tracking log and documents disposition of patients on the department coversheet.

*Proficient knowledge and competency to appropriately multi-task and utilize time management skills
*Demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills
*Ability to work independently
*Knowledge of DSM V
*Demonstrates effective communication "hand offs" between providers, shifts, departments/units, etc
*Basic to Intermediate use and ability to navigate computer, electronic medical record, telephone, fax machine, photocopier
*Knowledge of patient rights and laws pertaining to mental health

Education/Experience:
Minimum: High diploma and at least 5 years of experience working in mental health
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Sociology, or other related field and at least 2 years of experience working in mental health.

Work Schedule:

Flexible hours\\ Weekend or Overnight as needed
