Responsibilities

This position is located within the DEA Inspections Division, Office of Inspections, Inspections Team D in Arlington, Virginia. The incumbent will serve as an Intelligence Research Specialist (Inspector) performing but not limited the following duties:
  • Analyzes, evaluates, and integrates intelligence from multiple sources to assess both relevance and significance of developments stemming from the fields of research or operations within major geographical areas for the inspections process;
  • Evaluates the level of compliance and impact of investigations through the inspection process e.g. through inspections, audits, program specific reviews, and projects.
  • Initiates, plans, evaluates comprehensive research and analysis programs, procedures, and policies as part of the DEA inspections process;
  • Briefs DEA leadership on inspection and compliance findings and provides recommendations to improve overall efficiency;
  • Prepares studies or assessments of a specialized nature for Inspections and the Intelligence Program.

Qualifications

GS-14: Must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 Federal grade level performing such duties as collecting, analyzing, evaluating, producing, and disseminating drug law enforcement intelligence in support of drug law enforcement activities; performing preliminary research, analysis, and evaluation of raw intelligence data for segments of large research projects and studies; serving in liaison capacities participating and performing in cross-collaborative initiatives with other agencies within the IC community; participating in inspection, audit and compliance related activities; conducting interviews; providing briefings and recommendations regarding intelligence gathering efforts and related programs presenting findings to senior leadership
