Summary

CBO seeks a Unit Chief to manage analyses of climate change and the environment, energy, and infrastructure. The portfolio of work is broad and changes over time depending on the needs of Congress; currently there is an emphasis on climate change.

Responsibilities

The Unit Chief will help lead CBOs analyses of the economic effects of climate change and its analyses of the effects of fiscal policies intended to influence energy production and consumption. The Unit Chief will also supervise a staff of about seven economistsmost of whom have advanced degreeswho produce analyses of and reports about issues facing the Congress.The key responsibilities of the Unit Chief include helping identify and design projects that inform Congressional decisionmaking; managing the development, writing, and review of reports and other publications that stem from those projects; mentoring staff; and contributing to the management of the division as a whole.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in economics or a related discipline and at least 7 years of relevant experience (or a masters degree and at least 10 years of relevant experience); a proven track record as a researcher and project manager; and considerable experience analyzing climate change and the environment, energy, and infrastructure. The position also requires excellent communication skills; preference will be given to candidates who have managed the written work of other analysts.v
