We are looking for an Instructional Design Specialist to help create a high-quality, integrated programming experience for Americans for Prosperity's Capitol Leaders programs as well as other professional development programming for internal staff and state advocacy partners.Capitol Leaders, a project of Americans for Prosperity, is a professional development and networking program designed specifically for those serving in government. We focus on learning opportunities that help lawmakers define their personal vision, learn tools and tactics to improve efficacy and outcomes, and create a legacy-defining agenda for their time in office and beyond. While hard skills and tricks of the trade are part of our content, we stand apart from other professional development programs by helping leaders establish their own principles-based framework for decision-making, which equips them to deal with any situations they may face. We believe that public officials are leaders not only in government, but in their communities as private citizens - as such, our alumni may continue to work with our program and grow their leadership skills even after their time in government has ended. As the Instructional Design Specialist, you will drive the creation of sustainable content using industry leading instructional design best practices. Your Responsibilities Include Assess, design, develop, and implement training content for our Government Affairs professional development programs Formulate learning curriculum strategies, and creates content utilizing knowledge of learning theory and curriculum methodology to meet training requirements Create and write professional development content for program learning materials, internal reports, and Capitol Leaders blogDevelop training assessment and evaluation tools and other measures to ensure that the course content, format, and delivery are successful Develop learning collateral such as case studies, workbooks, pre-work activities and identification of supplemental readings Demonstrate passionate curiosity and interest for industry trends on professional development, adult learning theory, and digital content strategies Manage project plan for multiple courses at a time, including virtual learning events and in-person conference-style events Work with the program lead to design and execute assessment strategy using quantitative and qualitative research methods Analyze assessment results using statistical methods and provide recommendations for program improvements Other duties as assignedKnowledge and Skills You Bring to the Organization 3-5 years of relevant work experience Experience with change management, learning and engagement, professional talent development, and adult learning theory Familiarity with virtual classroom technology for synchronous and asynchronous learning Excellent communications skills, both oral and written Proven ability to deliver project outcomes Skill in building relationships and relating to external audiences Excellent organizational and planning skills A firm commitment to the Mission of the organization Standout Candidates May Also BringExperience in public policy or government affairs organizations About UsHere are some examples of the positive impact our grassroots staff have made in the lives of Americans across the country.
