This is an on site position. 2 step interview process. Contract to hire, permanent position. No clearance required. Must be a US Citizen. Will be processed for a public Trust clearance which can take 2-3 weeks to come back. This opportunity is for an Appian Developer that would join their Appian consulting practice. Most of their projects are in federal consulting right now, but they are in talks with different commercial companies to expand their business. Our customer has been partnered with Appian for 8 years now. They are hiring more for capability purposes right now as they have multiple projects they could put this person on. The Appian/BPM Developer will be responsible for software integration, customization, and support of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) software products. You will be required to attend training as needed and support all project activities in relation to this product. Top Required Skills: 1. 5+ years of Appian Development experience, ideally developing BPM and low code applications in an Appian, Agile environment 2. At least 1 occasion of leading, managing, and/or mentoring experience (either personal or professional) ~ GOAL is to bring on people that have lead, management desires and based on their experience level, mold them into Leads and/or give them leadership responsibilities. 3. Prior experience or ability to support multiple projects and applications at a given time. They will be supporting multiple government agencies ie DoT, DoL, DLA 4. A college bachelor's degree is required, needs to be within Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or something technical 5. An Appian A- score Certification Level 2 or higher ** US Citizenship is required to the Public Trust they will be processed for. PT typically takes 2-3 weeks and must be processed PRIOR to starting! Responsibilities: - Prepare software requirements specifications and prototypes for translation into structured application programs. - Configure, debug, unit, systems, integration test and document new applications and enhancements including, but not limited to forms, reports, underlying logic and interface components on development projects as assigned. - Support the development of technical maintenance and support manuals. - Analyze, debug and revise existing system logic difficulties and documentation as necessary. - Assist database administrators, data stewards, quality assurance team, system engineers, network engineers and other staff in ways to ensure data integrity, consistency, security and privacy. - Assist project manager in estimating durations for tasks, deliverables and activities. - Adhere to organizational policies, standards and best practices in application development, documentation, and maintenance that support the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) following iterative development approach (Rational Unified Process (RUP)). - Provide technical expertise and actively participate in creating systems development, software, hardware, and application development standards, procedures and policies. Qualifications: - Working knowledge and experience coding in Java is required. - At least 5 years of current experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience - Provide support to develop Web-based applications, including on-line customer service to transform government agencies to be able to deliver their services online. - Provide support in developing the site concept, interface design, and architecture of the website. - Provide support for the implementation of interfaces to applications. - Knowledge of several of the following areas is desirable: Active Server Pages, JavaScript, Visual Basic, JavaScript, Access, HTML, DBMS's (ex. - Oracle, Sybase, etc.) and knowledge of SQL in SQL server. Will primarily sit out of Horizon's HQ in Vienna, VA. Occasional travel to DC for customer meetings, demos and major releases. Who is the end client?= Various government agencies, primarily the Dept. of Labor and Dept. of Transportation. Within the DOT it is the mostly the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). Impact to the Internal/External Customer = The consistent support and development of faster, more efficient applications allows the DOL and DOT to remain highly effective within their own practices as well as the services they provide to the general public.
