The Emmes Company, LLC is searching for an Associate Director Data Management based out of our Rockville, Maryland, Frederick, Maryland and/or Tysons Corner, Virginia office. Emmes provides flexibility for the office location or work remote preference dependent upon position.

Primary Purpose

The Associate Director Data Management will be reporting to the Director of Data Management, and a member of the Data Management Service Group, the Data Management Associate Director supports Emmes' mission of shedding light on important human health problems through scientific partnerships that result in innovative solutions. This is accomplished by ensuring that Emmes provides the highest possible quality and efficiency of focused data management to Emmes' projects and its corresponding sponsors that creates value to the project.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinates the activities of the Data Management (DM) service group in consultation with DM director; may serve in one or more service group roles (e.g. functional hiring manager; training supervisor, quality representative, SOP representative) and participates in corporate DM initiatives
  • Communicates corporate goals to the DM group and models corporate culture through vision, action, and learning
  • Supports DM Manager development and growth opportunities; may meet with DM staff during orientation
  • Provides direct supervision to DM Managers who are responsible for resource management, training, quality of service to projects, and supervising the career paths of DM staff
  • Responsible for holding direct reports and staff accountable for high performance while promoting engagement and fostering a value-based culture of accountability
  • Identifies opportunities to improve service and increase quality and efficiencies
  • Responsible for supporting and maintaining DM SOPs and Work Instructions that accurately reflect the standards of activities falling under the responsibilities of DMs
  • Supports CAPA resolution for all DM activities in a timely fashion and communicates proactively with QA representatives regarding ongoing resolution activities
  • Collaborates with the DM Training Manager to provide internal and external training standards and manages to the training budget
  • Supports maintenance of DM job descriptions and career paths and facilitates communication to DM members through the Managers
  • Facilitates high group engagement metrics (through Gallup and other means) for DM staff
  • Assists in identifying and tracking OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) for DM group
  • Ensures timely and comprehensive performance evaluations with direct reports, and for all staff within the DM group in conjunction with the DM Managers
  • Facilitates internal and external DM identification and project assignments meet project needs for current and future work, in collaboration with Talent Department and in conjunction with DM Managers and DM Hiring Manager
  • Provides the support required to the Proposal and Pricing Department to appropriately resource and price new business opportunities for tasks within the DM purview

Experience
  • Bachelor's/Master's degree, preferably in a scientific discipline, with at least 8 years of experience in data management within pharma and/or CRO
  • Excellent verbal and written presentation and communication skills are necessary
  • Highly motivated, results driven with unyielding predisposition to detail, accuracy and clarity
  • Possess high degree of initiative and the ability to work independently to drive projects to completion
  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving and analytical skills, combined with sound business judgment
  • Demonstrates high degree of initiative and self-motivation
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically, analyze situations and achieve goals
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Personnel management and project team leadership experience highly desired
