Summary

This position is located in the Security Office. The purpose of this position is to provide support for the various internal agency security programs and to make critical security decisions in support of the DSS Security Officer.

Responsibilities

As a Security Specialist you will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Assists in the management of the Badge & Credentials program.
  • Manage the passing of employee's clearances for access to facilities via JPAS.
  • Validate visitor's clearances via JPAS.
  • Conduct security education awareness training and briefings for incumbent and accession.
  • Manages JPAS accounts creation and deletion b maintaining the SAAR for initiation of accounts.
  • Ensure facility threat assessments AT/FP training is uploaded n the CVAMP program.
  • Manages the issuance of courier cards and the tracking of courier cards expiration dates within SIMS.
  • Conduct end of day security checks and ensure visitor logs are maintained in accordance with DoD 5200.1R.
  • Manages the security final out-processing procedures.
  • Responsible for the issuance of contractors CAC cards.

Applicant must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, and will typically be demonstrated by working at, or immediately below the level of the job being advertised, for a year or more. The previous work experience must clearly demonstrate the application of the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Specialized experience required for this position is:
Personnel security work of reviewing personnel security questionnaires, requests for personnel security investigations, and reports of investigation, issuance or denials of interim security clearance and conducts security education awareness training and briefings.

Specifically you will be evaluated on the following competencies:

2. Problem Solving: Identifies and analyzes problems; weighs relevance and accuracy of information; seeks/generates and evaluates alternative perspectives/solutions; makes timely/ effective recommendations, based on potential implications of findings or conclusions. Critically evaluates to identify the causes of problems, and chooses courses of action that balance the interests of the mission and stakeholders.

3. Security: Knowledge of the laws, regulations, and guidelines related to securing personnel, facilities, and information, including the requirements for handling, transporting, and protecting classified information and proper reporting of security incidents.

4. Vehicle Operation: Knowledge of procedures for operating motor vehicles, including cars, trucks, or watercraft.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.

DCSA, as a newly designated Defense Agency is undergoing a multi-year transformation that includes a significant expansion of predecessor agencies' authorities and responsibilities. Mission accretion and associated growth in personnel and resources requires deliberate coordination and planning across operations and support activities to achieve effective outcomes while simultaneously establishing and integrating new activities, initiatives and projects. The new organization will be comprised of nearly 13,000 government and contractor personnel operation throughout the United States and overseas supporting stakeholders across the federal government.
