Summary

The incumbent of this position is a IT Specialist (ENTARCH) located in Data Migration and Management within the Technology and Integration Office for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Electronic Health Record Modernization (OEHRM), within the Office of the Deputy Secretary of VA (DEPSECVA).

Responsibilities

  • Gather data requirements from stakeholders
  • Gather (Import) existing metadata from source systems and from subject experts
  • Develop new data models adhering to EHRM practices and standards
  • Document the enterprise architecture infrastructure, including the business units
    and key processes, using modeling techniques
  • Maintain the existing data models and metadata using established tools and processes
  • Develop new tools and processes for collecting, managing and reporting metadata
  • Develop tools and processes for performing data validation, data quality checks and data profiling
  • Perform data validation, data quality checks and data profiling
  • Provide enterprise architecture guidance, support and coordination to customers, EHRM teams
  • Promote and educate customers and stakeholders on the use and value of the enterprise architecture
  • Ensure the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices to all components of the enterprise architecture.
Work Schedule: 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday (Telework is available)

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary, but may involve periods of walking, bending, stooping, lifting, carrying, moving (up to 50 pounds) components and supplies, reaching, pulling, and working at a keyboard and monitor. Subject to call back outside tour of duty.

The Selective Placement Factor for this position is: extensive experience in enterprise architecture infrastructure to maintain data models and establish new tools and processes for reporting metadata.

GS-13 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: (1) Assisting in the architecting, planning, design, and development of Enterprise Database Architecture with meta data modeling. (2) Developing, supporting and maintaining enterprise mission databases; (3) developing data objects and elements, transformations, functions, and rules that follow requirements for baseline and target database architectures or business processes; (4) experience in translating technical specifications into database models and architectures to meet user requirements.
