Summary

This position is located in the Departmental Offices (DO), Office of the Assistant Secretary for Management (ASM) (immediate office). The Office of Management is responsible for the internal management and policy of the Department in the areas of budget, planning, human resources, information and technology management, financial management and accounting, procurement, privacy, records, and administrative services to Departmental (Headquarters) Offices.

Responsibilities

As a Management Analyst, you will:
  • Plan, schedule, and conduct either short- or long-term efforts to evaluate and recommend ways to improve the effectiveness, efficiency and productivity of substantive activities, projects, tasks, and specific operations carried out within the Office of the ASM and subordinate offices.
  • Analyze and evaluate program effectiveness in meeting established goals and objectives.
  • Adapt how to proceed with program or management related studies/projects that are complicated by conflicting goals and objectives that may derive from changes in legislation or regulatory guidelines, productivity, and or variability in program service demands

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes representing executive level management in implementing their directives to supporting offices, performing management analyst work by examining office processes and making recommendations. Examples could include:
  • Liaison with executive management and senior advisors from other offices to coordinate accomplishment of directives; OR
  • Representing executive level management in the engagement and communicating directives and policies to supporting offices; OR
  • Advising, evaluating, and making recommendations to improve programs and projects; OR
  • Managing short and long term administrative projects that impact the executive office and subordinate offices; OR
  • Performing analysis of information and summarizing into an executive level document.

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks.
