Summary

This position is located in the Division of Insurance and Research, Headquarters of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation performing data analysis to produce a dataset or report for researcher and end user consumption.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the planning, design and carries out feasibility and cost benefit analyses of automated systems.
  • Assist Analysts/Researchers in producing datasets used for analysis and generating reports.
  • Evaluates datasets and assists in the determination of dataset relevance.
  • Reviews data quality assessments and assists in creating profile reports to determine if the dataset is ready for analysis, or recommends a remediation strategy.
  • Conducts studies of financial information and data delivery systems and makes tentative recommendations in the development of new applications, utilities and systems.
  • Conducts studies and makes tentative recommendations in developing new integrated financial & economic data delivery.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. CG-9: To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 07 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience performing data analysis to produce datasets or reports for researcher or end user consumption, and participating in project planning and implementation.

OR

EDUCATION:

A master's or equivalent graduate degree (such as an LL.B. or J.D., if related) or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education.

OR

COMBINATION of graduate level education as described above beyond the 1st full year of graduate education, and specialized experience as described above, that together meet the qualification requirements for this position.

  • Knowledge of financial institution regulatory and supervisory directive functions and the data to understand their impact on programs.
  • Ability to communicate in writing and make recommendations.
  • Ability to communicate orally to assist in the briefings of management.
  • Knowledge of financial data, financial structure and characteristics, and data analysis for interpretation.
  • Skill in applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to identify and resolve project related issues.
  • Knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations and policies related to IT systems testing and evaluation; IT security; data mining concepts, principals, methods and practices.
