Responsibilities

This position is located within the Wilson Center's External Relations Office. The position will work with the Wilson Center Vice President of External Relations, the Director of Digital Communications and Marketing and other communications staff, program directors and scholar experts to create video and multimedia content, assist team on website landing pages and social media posting and content as needed, write content for digital collateral as needed, and provide back-up to responding to the Wilson Center email account. Projects will include, but not limited to, program profiles to event videos to educational products targeting a general audience.

The Digital Content Producer / Editor (Multimedia) works with the External Relations team and will be responsible for the following major duties and responsibilities:
  • Researching, shooting and editing short videos and audio.
  • Taking photographs.
  • Writing scripts for video and audio that tell a story.
  • Creating multimedia projects such as podcasts, interactive timelines, maps, data visualizations and explainers.
  • Assisting team to post and cross promote content on Center's various platforms.
  • Updating website landing pages.
  • Provide back-up support for maintenance of the Wilson Center website and administration of the website content management system.
  • Assist team with broader digital marketing strategy and implementing projects as desired and perform other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate demonstrates creativity and flexibility in previous work experience with a strong interest in foreign policy and global affairs.

Qualifications

To minimally qualify for this position, applicants must meet one of the following:

(1). Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one full-time year (12-months) of specialized experience at, or equivalent to, the Grade 7 level (relative to federal and market standards). The specialized experience for this position are: experience and proficiency in a variety of photographic and multimedia techniques and processes; experience working with audio-video graphic editing software (i.e. Adobe Premier or Final Cut Pro, Adobe After Effects, InDesign); experience in developing video scripts; and experience in producing video content in social media platforms (i.e. Faceboook, Twitter, YouTube); OR

(2). Education: Possess a master's or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work; OR

(3). Combination of Specialized Experience and Education described above that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. (Only graduate education in excess of the first full year may be used in this calculation.) The resume must support the experience and/or education criteria stated above.

Note: The "relative market standards" is defined based on the knowledge required to do the work, complexity of the work performed, independence in conducting the work, and regular/recurring contacts.
