Lead Technician for Structured Cabling
Job Summary: Responsible for maintaining structured cable systems by installing, repairing, and upgrading cable infrastructure. This role includes analyzing drawings, customer requirements and customer sites. Functional Responsibilities: 1. Customer focused, including the ability to work with project managers to foster long-term client relationships 2. Self-motivated 3. Valid driver license with a clean driving history. 4. Be part of the installation teams at customer locations across the country 5. Operate vehicles, hand tools, power tools, ladders, lifts, and test equipment 6. Good working relationship with company personnel across all levels of the organization 7. Strong technical knowledge of Cabling standards. 8. Able to work at tall heights and lift 50+ pounds. 9. Strong communication skills. 10. Strong customer service skills. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. When needed, Responsible for installing, relocating, disconnecting, troubleshooting and auditing cable service and ancillary equipment 2. Follows departmental installation policies in compliance with OSHA, BICSI, and NEC standards 3. Properly operates and maintains tools and equipment 4. Must be able and willing to travel and work in various environments, which may require climbing, lifting and working in unusual work environments. 5. Perform proper terminations and testing of data cables, per customer standards. Termination and testing procedures may vary from one application to another. 6. Must be able to climb and work from ladders as projects dictate. This may involve wearing a safety harness and lanyard and/or safety glasses and hard hat. 7. Must be able to move and/or install heavy equipment or materials. 8. Perform proper documentation and labeling of installed data cablesJob Requirements:. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Install, maintain and repair structured cabling systems. 2. Pull, route, label and test Cat 5E, Cat 6 and Cat 6A cables. 3. Install support structures, including cable racks, j-hooks, innerduct, and other related structures. 4. Be familiar with several different OEMs Work Environment: 1. May be required to work in a raised floor environment. 2. May be required to work in small crawl spaces and/or shaft ways. 3. May be required to work in facility manholes. 4. May be required to hand dig or trench outside. 5. May be required to work on top of buildings. 6. Must maintain cleanliness and organization of all storage, staging and work areas on-site. Operations: 1. Hours of work may vary from week to week, including night work. 2. Overtime may be required on short or no notice as deemed necessary by Management. 3.
