DEPARTMENT: Leadership, Education & Engagement POSITION OBJECTIVE: To oversee, supervise, manage and implement projects and programs in the member engagement group of the American Farm Bureau Federation. REPORTS TO: Vice President, Leadership, Education & Engagement LOCATION: Washington, DC DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee, manage and delegate the development and implementation of individual member engagement initiatives including the young farmers & ranchers, women's leadership and promotion & education national committees, related programming and national conferences. Manage and implement component (state Farm Bureau) engagement initiatives such as the State Awards of Excellence, Policy Initiative Grants, idea sharing and community-building activities to strengthen relationships with, and among, state Farm Bureaus. Recruit, hire, train, support and manage staff of the Member Engagement Team (currently four direct reports and one indirect report) Nurture collaboration and efficiencies of the member engagement team by coordinating, or overseeing coordination of, projects common to all committees such as community service, convention and FUSION Conference programming and services to state Farm Bureaus. Create and lead evaluation plan for AFBF's member engagement initiatives. Build and maintain relationships with state Farm Bureau staff and national-level volunteer leaders. Manage the professional development and work performance of staff and support staff on the team. Implement board-approved goals and objectives related to all program areas. Provide evaluation reports of team's progress on organizational goals for internal and external reports Oversee the development and management of budgets in all program areas. Serve as a resource to state Farm Bureau staff on membership engagement. Develop and present training programs on related topics at state or national conferences as requested. Provide staff leadership at AFBF annual convention and other AFBF events as needed. Maintain an in-depth knowledge of association trends and member engagement theory and application. Assist as needed in all other program areas for which the Leadership, Education & Engagement (LE&E) Department has responsibility. RELATIONSHIPS: Maintain a team environment with staff and support staff of the Leadership, Education & Engagement Department, other AFBF staff, national-level volunteers and state staff, including program staff, organization directors and field staff. Manage relationships with outside consultants, sponsors and vendors when necessary. EDUCATION OR TRAINING REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Minimum 5 years experience with member engagement or component relations and minimum two years' experience supervising employees Proven ability to manage long-term projects and workflows Strong time management and organizational skills Experience in building and maintaining professional partnerships Experience in reviewing and managing budgets PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/SKILLS: In-depth knowledge of member engagement concepts and adult learning Farm Bureau or membership association experience Master's degree in related field Interest in agriculture ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Frequent travel required Other Requirements: Public Speaking Travel approximately 20% TO APPLY: Please send cover letter and resume to humanresources@fb.org .
