Are you an experienced visual creative professional who wants to define APL's strategic identity across all forms of media and the Lab's campuses? Do you have the drive to synthesize the almost eight-decade long history and culture of the Lab into a cohesive, effective strategic creative vision that will become a globally-recognizable identity for APL? Do you have experience guiding diverse teams in the enterprise-wide redefinition of quality and identity? The Communications Department is seeking a Creative Strategy and Identity program manager to define and design the Laboratory's strategic identity and lead its implementation across APL. This newly-created position at the Lab will work with program managers in the Enterprise and Public Affairs section and leads in the three groups (Multimedia, Editorial, Production) to create APL's strategic identity and guide creative leaders and teams across the Lab in its use. This role will serve as the leading authority on visual creative programs and projects at APL, and work to help staff members incorporate the strategic identity into their creations. Additionally, this position will perform a small amount of direct work on certain projects. As Creative Strategy and Identity Program Manager, you will: *Lead the design, creation, and implementation of APL's strategic identity. This strategic identity will carry across all external and internal communications materials, as well as throughout the Laboratory, including our sectors and departments, mission areas, campus buildings, and APL initiatives. *Serve as the Lab's trusted creative advisor to both cross-enterprise leadership and the Communications Department, providing vision and guidance on the most important design and identity challenges facing the Lab. *Collaborate closely with group leads, especially the group supervisor and creative manager in the Multimedia Design Group, during creation, iteration, and administration of APL's strategic identity. *Inform and educate creative leads and teams across the department about the strategic identity and how to weave it thoughtfully into all APL creative products. *Evolve the strategic identity as communications tools, platforms, and practices change. *Become a leading authority in our domain and peer group for strategic identity. You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you have *A Bachelor's degree in visual communications, graphic design or a related field. *At least 10 years of demonstrated leadership experience in strategic communications, to include major campaign implementation, graphic design, visual communications, advertising, identity and/or branding, collateral creation, and use of research and analysis. *Demonstrated experience in leading and collaborating across complex organizations. *Effective track record of high-level, conceptual customer/client presentations. *Experience leading and working with creative teams in a dynamic environment. *Excellent interpersonal, analytical, critical thinking, project management and organizational communications skills. *An ability to operate independently, set priorities, and adjudicate competing needs in a fast-paced organization. *Have the ability to obtain a Secret level security clearance. Applicant selected will be subject to a Government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include US citizenship. You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you *Served as a creative director or equivalent. *Have familiarity with one or more scientific or technical subjects, including, but not limited to: engineering, computer science, homeland security, defense, national security, space science, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, synthetic biology or related subjects. *Worked with government, DoD, academic, or research staff. *Experience with defining enterprise-level graphic communications or re-branding. *Have an active Secret (or higher) security clearance.
