Westat's research, technical, and administrative staff of more than 2,000 is located at our headquarters in Rockville, Maryland, near Washington, DC.

Job Summary:
Westat is seeking research assistants to support survey research data collection and processing operations. You would be expected to learn the protocol, processes, data collection instruments, and collected data for a variety of studies.

Job Responsibilities:
• Support data managers with coding and cleaning data; testing survey software; and preparing file sets and accompanying documentation for delivery to our clients.
• Some aspects of the position involve supervision of staff working on operational tasks performed in our Rockville and Gaithersburg locations such as receipt and proper handling of survey materials, mailing of survey materials, and helpdesk support.

Basic Qualifications:
• A bachelor's degree, preferably in the social sciences is required.
• Ad hoc travel between Westat's locations in the Rockville/Gaithersburg area is required.

Preferred Qualification:
• Experience with Excel or Access.

To be successful in this role you must possess strong oral and written communication, aptitude for working with computer systems, detail orientation, a strong interest in social science research, and a highly organized approach to work.
