This position is located in The Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards (NMSS), Division of Decommissioning, Uranium Recovery and Waste Programs (DUWP). The supervisor is Patricia Holahan. This position is a Non-Bargaining Unit position.

You will serve as an Administrative Assistant in the Division of Decommissioning, Uranium Recovery and Waste Programs. Performs administrative duties for the Division Director and Deputy and other members of the staff. Type letters, memoranda, reports, and staff papers in final form and in some cases, due to the urgency and importance of the subject matter must be done without error in the first draft. Receives incoming telephone calls, determining the identity of the caller, the nature of the call and management of the calendars for the Division Director and Deputy. Determines whether the importance of business, rank, or position of the caller is such that it requires the attention of the Division Director or Deputy or if the caller should be referred to other staff or organizations within NMSS. Assures that the system for handling reports, announcements, staff papers and other mail routed to the Division Director or Deputy is operating in a timely and efficient manner. Determines which should be brought to the personal attention of the Division Director or Deputy and which should be routed to staff personnel. Maintains the Action Item Tracking System (AITS) for the Director, initiating necessary action forms, receiving actions from other offices, following up on completed actions and closing out the action.

You must meet the qualifications for this position by no later than 30 calendar days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position.


In order to qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience includes experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform a wide range of secretarial and administrative duties. Advanced skills in the use of Microsoft Word applications. Knowledge of the NRC's Agency wide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) for the efficient processing of documents as required. Knowledge of foreign and domestic travel regulations sufficient to make travel arrangements for the Division Director/Deputy and members of the staff.
