Company Job Title: Data Analyst

Location: Northern VA/Washington, DC

Reports To: Project Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt, Full Time, Regular

Summary:
  • The Data Analyst shall perform formal system testing activities for a project or subset of a larger project.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform analysis of documented user requirements.
  • Direct or assist in the design of test plans in support of user requirements for moderately complex to complex software or IT systems.
  • Participate in all phases of risk management assessment and software/hardware development.
  • Assist the evaluator in identifying the relevant data elements, defining the data elements within a data dictionary, and relating the data elements in a data model.
  • Document how data is to be aggregated, organized, and calculated via a data schema, and ensure the data schema will be followed during OT events.
  • Analyze expected test data, determining appropriate test data elements, and determining how test data will be used to create information used in evaluation reporting.
  • Advise team members on specific findings and recommend appropriate courses of action.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher-level degree). Degree can be substituted for 4 additional years of related work experience.
  • 5 years' experience in data analysis for test and evaluation, to include; Agile-developed software intensive or networked systems, support DHS Operational Test Agent services to DHS or one of the component agencies, and have relevant experience supporting T&E of software systems.
  • Ability to obtain a Level I DHS T&E certification or equivalency as per DHS Policy 064-04-004 and current course standards within 6 months of hire.
  • DHS Background Investigation and Clearance is required.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to meet DHA security requirements.
  • Possess all skills expected of a Data Analyst by the LSOTA Operating Instruction.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data.
  • Possess strong time management skills and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to provide continual attention to detail in composing required reporting.
  • Ability to establish priorities and meet established deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database, and presentation software (Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook).
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills required: ability to interact with all levels of staff, government personnel, management, and customers.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% as required.

  • The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.
  • During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
