Job Announcement

Serves as the lead IT support point of contact for the Stormwater Management (STW) division business units and backup IT support to other Public Works divisions. Administers, configures, and maintains STW application systems, PCs, mobile devices, and peripherals, and provide operational and desktop IT support services for STW customers running on Microsoft Windows network/domain. Provides technical assistance to users on hardware and applications and be responsible for STW information security as defined by county IT security policies. Act as STW technical representative on DPWES IT teams, and as liaison with the Department of Information Technology (DIT), ensuring that STW requirements are addressed, providing input into technical discussions and decisions, and ensuring county IT policies and standards are fully implemented in STW. Troubleshooting and communication skills must be excellent. Patiently works with customers real-time in-person, over the phone and through remote desktop tools. Travel will be required between three branch office locations, as well as participation in occasional extended work hours to meet project implementation dates and support emergency events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Administers STW computer systems, including system security, Active Directory, network and application access, files and folders on network shares, and set up/use of network/desktop peripherals and mobile devices.
  • Provides timely support for basic user IT issues, peripheral configurations, desktop/laptop and mobile device configurations (e.g., iPhone, iPad, MiFi), software installations and hardware repair.
  • Remains up to date with emerging technologies and industry best practices to maintain knowledge necessary to resolve issues and plays a lead role in conducting research to evaluate and implement new or replacement STW IT solutions.
  • Acts as STW administrator and vendor relationship manager for work order management system application, flood warning application, facility camera system, and CCTV application.
  • Serves as an STW Information Security Coordinator to ensure alignment and compliance to County information security policy by acting as the primary liaison to the Fairfax County Department of Information Technology; facilitating and managing IT security matters for all support IT STW resources; and conducting user security awareness training.
  • Ensures a new product or service introduction is properly solutioned, approved, adopted, and managed with appropriate support documentation and processes for users.
  • Maintains knowledge in use of tools and systems used to support/maintain systems and users such as Active Directory, System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), and Windows administration tools.
  • Provides technical assistance and help documentation for users on use of desktop hardware, software, and applications.
  • Documents and ensures compliance with system/application licenses.


Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:

Possession of an associate degree in computer science, electrical engineering, electronics, or a related field; plus three years of network and/or telecommunications experience; or a bachelor's degree in such fields; plus one year of experience in network or telecommunications system design, analysis, installation, and troubleshooting.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Valid driver's license.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check and driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in IT, computer science, management information systems, or related field.
  • Four years of hands-on experience supporting IT services in a Windows enterprise network environment, including support of remote users.
  • At least 2 years of experience with networked environment functionality, including Active Directory, file servers, printers, TCP IP, DNS, virtualization, etc.
  • Intermediate to advanced ability supporting and troubleshooting Windows 10, Office 365, and OneDrive, relevant Microsoft certification a plus.
  • At least 1 year of experience with Windows Server 2012 and above; relevant Microsoft Windows Server a plus; Basic troubleshooting of common mobile device platforms (iOS, Android).
  • Experience training and supporting lower-tiered team members.
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills, and time management and organizational skills.
