VIKA Maryland, LLC, is a leader in Civil Engineering, Planning and Land Surveying in the DC metro area. Our firm, located in Germantown, MD provides services to developers and municipalities, focusing on Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties. We are currently seeking to fill the following positions:

Professional Engineer  The successful candidate should have a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in the production of a wide range of plans and specifications including: site grading & utilities; public improvements, sediment control, storm water management, roadway, water & sewer, maintenance of traffic, and environmental site design.

Qualified candidates shall have specific Montgomery and/or Prince George’s County experience and be successful at representing clients and working with public agencies including M-NCP&PC, DOT, DEP, WSSC, and MSHA staff on a range of issues as well as have the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Lastly, the successful candidate needs to be comfortable working efficiently as well as working under tight deadlines.

It is expected that the candidate will have a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and be a Maryland Licensed Professional Engineer (PE). Must be fluent in computer programs standard within the industry including AutoCAD, Civil-3D, Excel, and Power Point, as well as have solid grading and utility design skills.

 Survey Crew Leader  The successful candidate should have direct working knowledge in all aspects of survey projects, including field data collection with conventional, robotic, and GPS instruments, reconnaissance for horizontal and vertical control or property corner evidence, field stakeout of proposed site features for future construction, set up and monitoring for settlement, detail measurements and recordation for as-builts.

It is expected that the qualified candidate will have a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in land surveying with, at least three (3) years as a full-time Crew Leader.  Must have working knowledge of mathematics as it relates to surveying (Geometry).  Ability to operate, maintain, check and adjust instruments (Levels, Total Stations, Robotics, and GPS). Prepare sketches of existing conditions.  Oversee, train and be accountable for survey crew safety, actions and work production. Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather and site conditions.Senior Project Manager – Planner/Landscape Architect The successful candidate should be an experienced Planner (AICP)/Landscape Architect (RLA) to join our staff.  The successful candidate will have a strong background in urban design and entitlement, as well as an ability to integrate landscape, civil, architectural, utility, and other aspects of site development into a coordinated site development design.  We are assuming this will entail a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in the production of a wide range of documents including: Entitlement Site Plans, Subdivision Plans, Forest Conservation Plans, and Concept Plans, Schematic Development Plans, Design Development Plans and Construction Documents in urban design, sustainable planning and design, hardscape design, planting design, layout, fine-grading and detailing.

Our office provides planning, design, and engineering services to developers and municipalities in Maryland, focusing on Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties, and we expect the successful candidate to have experience in those jurisdictions. We strive to integrate the expertise of our various professions and other consultants into a well-conceived design and expect a well-rounded understanding of how the built environment is constructed.  Most of our work is infill, TOD, and urban redevelopment.  While our foundation is in entitlement work, our design portfolio includes a focus on placemaking, smart growth, and sustainable design principles; a desire to create environments people take ownership of and pride in is essential.  To help us continue this growth, the successful candidate must have the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines and must have a fundamental understanding of computer programs standard within the industry including AutoCAD, Photoshop, Sketch-up, Excel, and Illustrator.  We also expect the qualified candidate to be skilled at designing and coordinating plan preparation and approval on tight deadlines with numerous team members and agencies; these tasks will need to be done in parallel with the basic project management requirements of scheduling, budgeting, billing, and client service.  It is assumed that a Project Manager will need some oversight by senior management, but that they will be able to run most day-to-day tasks.

Entry-Level Land Planner or Landscape Architect The successful candidate should have a degree in planning or landscape architecture with a focus on urban design, entitlement, and mixed-use environments. Some experience in a similar position is desirable.

Minimum Educational Requirements:
– Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or Landscape Architecture

Technical Requirements:
– Education and Exposure to urban design and mixed-use environments.
– Familiarity with regulatory codes and entitlement processes.
– Software proficiency: AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, and SketchUp is required.
– Basic understanding of plant material, grading and drainage, and construction materials.
– Hand graphics skills are a plus.
