Summary

About the Position:Adelphi is an unincorporated area in Prince George's County, Maryland. It includes the communities of Adelphi Hills, Buck Lodge, Chatham, Cool Spring Terrace, and White Oak Manor. The Adelphi community takes its name from the historic Adelphi Mill, established in 1796 along the Northwest Branch of the Anacostia River. During the 19th century,George Washington Riggs acquired much of the area northeast of Washington, D.C., as his Green Hill estate in the Chillum Manor district.

Responsibilities

  • Plan work procedures that will accomplish the goals of the organization in an economical manner.
  • Resolve maintenance scheduler issues which arise throughout the planning process.
  • Assess equipment to make a determination as to what tools can be best utilized to complete the maintenance project.
  • Conduct work inspection to ensure maintenance repairs are completed in accordance with specifications.
  • Review preventive maintenance schedules for equipment to identify repairs.
  • Order resources required to complete maintenance projects for the organization.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a two year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated below and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. Your application will be further evaluated to determine if you meet the best qualified cut-off for referral to the selecting official.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Maintenance Scheduler/Planner WD-4701-07 without more than normal supervision. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

PHYSICAL EFFORTS: Work for position requires physical effort to walk and stand for long periods of time, reach and stretch, and work in awkward positions to conduct work inspections.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work for this position is performed inside and outside in all types of weather with exposure to a variety of unpleasant conditions including fumes, sewers, and dust with exposure to a variety of hazards to conduct work inspections.
