The Configuration/Build Manager manage, maintain, and evolve or mature the configuration management environment for hardware, servers, and software product builds. The Configuration/Build Manager coordinate and track software and system staging, testing, and integration activities with the System Engineer, testers, and software developers to develop and sustain the Navy's Risk Management Information (RMI) system.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Track the build and deployment processes for software, a maintaining the program's software libraries, software deployments, configuration control board facilitation, developing scripts to supporting software configuration management, providing support to entire program team
  • Set up source code management, including version control and build automation across multiple technologies (Java, .NET, XML, XSLT, etc.)
  • Configure new product repositories, set up workspaces and train users in using the build management technology, environment and processes
  • Maintain and upgrade the Configuration Management (CM) tools, managing the licenses and integrating the CM technology with other tools such as a development technology IDEs and/or a defect tracking technology
  • Define and implement manageable CM processes (checkout/check-in, branching, merge, continuous build and integration models, release packaging, etc.)
  • Implement and improve process automation using appropriate automation tools
  • Prepare CM technology and process training for users and the ability to deliver the training effectively
  • Develop standard operating procedures and contractual documents
  • Author and execute of test cases as well as performing the development and maintenance of automated test scripts
  • Author test plans and test reports as required
  • Support Unit, Integration, Regression, and System Testing
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required
    • 5 years of experience (with at least 2 in configuration management)
    • Secret clearance required

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Experience with analyzing business requirements to interest into test cases.
    • Experienced with and comfortable defining/maintaining continuous integration processes and tools and possess networking and system administration knowledge. and the ongoing maintenance of the processes and toolsets used to manage the software baseline, build, and release process
    • Experience supporting configuration management software.
    • Prior experience in IT change management and working in an Agile environment.
    • Prior experience working with application/product development teams on design and implementation of best practices for security as code
    • Knowledgeable in software version control and release packaging that includes deliverables such as build packages, release notes, and configuration instructions.
    • Knowledge of enterprise architecture.
    • Knowledge with Cloud and Virtualization technologies and their APIs (e.g., VMware, Azure Resource Manager).
    • Knowledge of technology and security topics including network and application security, infrastructure hardening, security baselines, web server, and database security.
    • Must be capable of managing multiple efforts with time related constraints in a fast-paced contracting environment
    • Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges
    • Ability to be a self-starter; a great attention to detail with respect to managing software development environments and program libraries; software deployments; collaborative problem-solving skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to produce usable and maintainable documentation, presentations; understanding of software processes; and strong presentation skills
    • Ability to understand and improve CM processes
    • Ability to travel
