The MLT Clinical Coordinator is a technologist whose major area of responsibility is coordination of the clinical education with the didactic education and evaluation of the clinical education effectiveness through a schedule of regular visits to and correspondence with the clinical education centers, as well as classroom and laboratory teaching responsibilities.

  • Serve as a liaison for communication with clinical agencies and clinical instructors in the clinical setting 
  • Communicate with Program Director concerning the status of student learning experiences
  • Classroom didactic and laboratory instruction
  • Maintain an environment conducive to learning in the clinical and campus laboratories
  • Review supplies and maintain inventory and equipment with attention to cost, quality, and full functionality
  • Set up instructional equipment and supplies
  • Assist students in their orientation to the laboratories and in practicing skills
  • Document basic skill / technical competencies
  • Oversee student activities in the campus laboratories
  • Assist students with computer software, hardware, and audiovisual materials
  • Provide orientation, direction and guidance to instructional assistants and adjunct faculty
  • Provide updates to faculty regarding student clinical and skills laboratory activities
  • Maintain student records
  • Promote health careers at HCC and within the community
  • Perform duties to assist with student admissions, advising, and retention
  • Other tasks as assigned

WORKING CONDITIONS

Responsibilities involve deadline, and time driven conditions (i.e., high volume of work and student, faculty and staff contacts) and considerable multi-tasking. Clinical Coordinator must be able to work overtime and outside of normal daytime working hours when necessary to complete assignments, maybe subject to criminal background check and drug screen. Must meet clinical agency's health requirements (i.e., up-to-date immunizations including hepatitis B and influenza and PPD testing).  Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor degree in related field required
  • Graduate degree compatible with academia and/or profession preferred
  • Master's degree preferred but not required
  • 3 years of experience in clinical laboratory science to include training, presentations, or curricular design
  • Knowledge of a variety of teaching delivery methods

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Must maintain current certification in CPR and first aid as well as maintain up-to-date health records
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to identify and set priorities, multi-task, and meet deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are mandatory
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills required, including the ability to interact with a diverse range of students (including those with special needs), faculty and staff
  • Ability to work independently, flexibly, and as part of a team
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Regular attendance is a requirement of this position
  • Performs all duties while considering the impact of any actions on the college's sustainability initiatives in the areas of environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic prosperity

Licensing or Certification Required

Current licensure / certification / professional qualifications / MT (ASCP) or MLS (ASCP) or equivalent

 Additional Information:

Hours Per Week:  37.5 hours
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday day shift with occasional evenings and rare weekends
Compensation:  $55,191 plus excellent medical, tuition reimbursement and paid leave
Grade:  13
