The Plant Manager for The Washington Post will provide operational leadership, drive innovation, and execute on mid- and long-term operational goals, business plans, and policies for our 600+ employee facility in Springfield, Virginia. In this critical role, you will apply deep knowledge of operational efficiencies to deliver high-quality products and maximize the facility's profitability. You will oversee safety, quality, process improvement, maintenance, distribution, and human resources to ensure a safe, diverse, and inclusive work environment, as well as environmental and regulatory compliance.

What you will do:
  • Drive systems and process improvement, product quality, on-time delivery, customer satisfaction, workplace safety, and cost containment by conceiving strategic initiatives, setting clear goals, and holding production management team accountable.
  • Develop expense and labor budgets to support operational goals. Consistently meet budget commitments and oversee management of monthly, quarterly, and annual budget and forecasting processes. Guide managers on tracking departmental budgets, as well as identifying and implementing cost efficiencies.
  • Develop a high-performing production management team by coaching, mentoring and empowering direct reports. Guide the team on collaborating with other departments to improve workflows and work output.
  • Foster a safe, diverse and inclusive work environment by complying with all local, state and federal regulations; enforcing company policies; developing and communicating operational and safety procedures; hiring, developing and retaining key employees; and facilitating staff's continuous development and growth.


What you will bring to our team:
  • An undergraduate degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or related field or an equivalent work experience
  • 15+ years of manufacturing experience; experience in printing/media industry is preferred
  • Leadership experience, including 10+ years as a plant manager and/or business unit manager with P&L responsibilities
  • Knowledge of manufacturing best practices, critical operational metrics, workflows, systems, and materials
