The primary function of the Loss Mitigation Assistant is to assist the Loss Mitigation Specialist with the management of delinquent accounts. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing credit disputes, delinquent payments, and account reconciliation on charged off loans.

Responsibilities

  • Process all credit disputes received to include disputes received in writing and via e-Oscar
  • Process all payments on charged off loans as well as loans under bankruptcy
  • Review payment exception reports and reconcile all charged off and bankrupt loans
  • When financial needs applications have been received, prepare all necessary account documents for review
  • When legal action has been received, prepare all necessary account documents for review
  • Distribute all incoming mail
  • Must be able to update the status of accounts on a daily basis with accurate detailed notes and follow up actions
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing and use discretion in your work
  • Remains cognizant of and adheres to NWFCU policies and procedures as well as regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)
  • Performs other related duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • High-school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of Collections or Loss Mitigation experience; experience working in a financial institution is preferred
  • Working knowledge of FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act)
  • Working knowledge of FCRA (Fair Credit Reporting Act)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and databases
