Responsibilities

  • Provides advice on specific problems involving investigative policy, planning, and operations. Assists in providing policy guidance to SACs, and other supervisors, who consult with him/her on problem cases, difficulties with technical administrative operations, and internal security policies and procedures.
  • Serves as an advisor on and provides advice on public information access issues concerning the release of information to the public on matters relating to active or completed investigations.
  • Assists in establishing and maintaining effective liaison with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies and the offices responsible for prosecution of offenders.
  • Conducts, as directed, internal preliminary inquiries or formal investigations involving violations of criminal statutes of the United States as they relate to fraud and corruption in various SBA programs.
  • Reviews and evaluates statutes, rules, regulations, legal decisions, and other official reports for applicability to ID's policies, procedures, and operations.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must demonstrate sufficient specialized experience to perform the duties of this position. Your resume is the key means we have for evaluating your skills, knowledge, and abilities, as they relate to this position. GS-13: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, obtained in either the private or public sector such as: evaluating allegations/complaints of inefficiency, misconduct, impropriety, mismanagement, or violations of law (e.g. fraud, waste, and abuse); gathering and evaluating information and evidence; AND researching and analyzing rules and regulations for applicability to alleged wrongdoing; and developing and updating finalized policies, procedures, and regulations; provides, as needed, presentations, briefings, case updates, and/or reports to leadership.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

TIME-IN-GRADE: If you are a current career or career-conditional federal employee applying for promotion under Merit Promotion you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks in positions at the next level lower than the position being filled.

SUITABILITY, CLEARANCE & REQUIREMENTS: A background investigation may be required for all new hires.
