The Medical Assistant position is responsible for the overall clinical operations of the office, including ensuring that patient charts are complete prior to the Physician seeing the patient, cleaning and stocking patient exam rooms, cleaning and sterilizing instruments, ordering medical supplies, and ensuring that all medical equipment receives the required routine maintenance and is maintained in an orderly fashion. The Medical Assistant position is also responsible for ensuring that patients are triaged and seen in accordance to office policy, and when necessary, explaining delays and apologizing to waiting patients. The Medical Assistant position is responsible for ensuring that every patient receives excellent service and quality care, and is further responsible to report any deterrents to the Administrator. The Medical Assistant position should be able and willing to fill in at any other position in the office as required to ensure excellent patient service. Please note: This job may require "Roving," which consists of rotating to the various AHC Urgent Care Center locations. Your manager will discuss with you whether your particular position includes "Roving," and if so, the details of this job requirement. Generally this will be designated by your work schedule.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
• Demonstrates through behavior AHC's Core Values of Integrity, Compassion, Balance, Excellence, Stewardship and Teamwork as outlined in the organization's Performance Excellence Program.
• Supports patient care delivery by preparing patients and assisting clinicians in the exam rooms.
• Accurately documents and records patient examination, treatment, and test results into EMR in accordance with department policy
• Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
• Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential.
• Follows CDC isolation guidelines, infection control practices, demonstrates appropriate use of PPE, performs hand washing according to policy and enforces safety regulations.
• Prepare, clean and stock exam rooms. Order and maintain medical supplies and equipment, inventories stock, places orders, and verifies receipt.
• Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
• Works in coordination with other staff to ensure patient satisfaction and office efficiencies.
• May train other staff to perform basic clinical duties to facilitate patient flow.
• Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department or center.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics:

• Medical Assistant training: sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, medical supplies & equipment
• Computer knowledge and typing skills.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to multi-task and maintain professionalism in stressful situations.
• Familiarity with medical office procedures and practice management software.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, CPT & ICD coding, and insurance requirements
• Ability to problem solve
• Ability to process requests efficiently and promptly.
• Ability to collaborate with fellow staff and cross-train to ensure efficient operations.
• Ability to abide by HIPAA, OSHA, and Adventist HealthCare policies and procedures.

Education and Experience Required:

• High school education or equivalent is required.
• Current Certified Medical Assistant/CMA required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Current CPR proficiency and BLS by American Heart Association required
• 1-2 years experience in a clinical environment preferred

Work Schedule:
  • Work hours vary (12-36 hours per week) - Day Shift and Night Shift Openings
  • Rotating Weekends
  • Day Shift= 8:00am - 8:00pm
  • Night Shift- 8:00pm - 8:00am
