Tenure Track Assistant or Associate Professor - Higher Education Program

The George Mason University Higher Education Program (HEP) invites applications for a tenure track assistant or associate professor. This is a full-time, nine-month, faculty appointment starting in August 2021. About the Higher Education Program: The Higher Education Program (HEP), located within the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS), prepares students for positions of leadership in teaching, research, and administration at two-year and four-year colleges and universities around the world as well as for positions in associations, government agencies, and industries whose activities relate to or impact higher education. The interdisciplinary, graduate-level curriculum focuses on leadership, teaching and learning, student affairs, administration, technology, and assessment. The program offers two certificates, a master's degree in higher education and student development, and a PhD in education.

Responsibilities: HEP is seeking a collaborative, dedicated, student-centered colleague who will: * Teach graduate-level coursework in the Higher Education Program at a 2/2 load; * Maintain an active higher education research agenda; * Advise and mentor graduate students; * Serve on departmental, college, and university committees.

Required Qualifications: * Must hold a Doctorate degree in higher education or a related field to be completed by the start of employment.

Preferred Qualifications: * Ability to teach graduate-level coursework in higher education administration, leadership, organization, finance, and/or policy; * Demonstrated commitment to graduate-level teaching, including online teaching, through a critical lens; * Demonstrated commitment to mentoring and advising graduate students representing diverse backgrounds and career interests; * Demonstrated commitment to higher education scholarship; * Demonstrated commitment to collaboration and interdisciplinary approaches; * Experience working in higher education, including administration, policy, federal, or state government agencies.
