MHA Program Director, Full-Time, Term Faculty Position (Open Rank)

The Department of Health Administration and Policy (HAP) is seeking applicants for a full-time, term faculty position for an individual with teaching experience in a field related to Health Systems Management to serve as the Director of the MHA program, which is externally (CAHME) accredited. Applicants must have an earned doctorate in a field or discipline that is related to health systems management and/or public health. Prior work experience in healthcare delivery systems and/or public health organizations as well as familiarity with external academic program accreditation is preferred.

The faculty appointment will begin in June 2020. This is a full-time (12-month) faculty position. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and it strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's inclusive environment.

Responsibilities: Successful candidates will be able to: (1) teach graduate students in courses related to Health Systems Management, (2) serve as MHA Program Director, with administrative support for program management duties (including MHA student advisement, adjunct faculty coordination, recruiting students and faculty, program evaluation, and curriculum oversight); and (3) conduct outreach to alumni and health care leaders in the community. We are especially interested in faculty candidates with a background in at least one of the following areas: (1) strategic management; (2) organizational behavior and leadership; (3) quality improvement and patient safety; (4) public health, and (5) health care finance and accounting. The rank and salary for this position will be commensurate with the candidate's overall qualifications and prior experience with academic teaching. Required Qualifications: The successful applicant will have (1) an earned doctorate in a field or discipline related to health systems management; (2) teaching experience, and (3) leadership experience; and (4) strong interpersonal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: Candidates at the associate or full professor rank will have prior experience with teaching and mentoring graduate students. Highly qualified candidates will have academic leadership experience and familiarity with CAHME accredited MHA program(s).

Because the HAP department's faculty members include scholars from multiple academic and professional disciplines, we are especially interested in applicants with a background and interest in working in multidisciplinary academic settings.

For full consideration, applicants must apply online at http://jobs.gmu.edu/ for position # F8753Z. Please upload a (1) cover letter of interest, (2) curriculum vitae, (3) personal statement on leadership experience as well as student mentorship or teaching experience; (4) contact information and names for three references; and 5) Statement of Diversity: Please respond to the following: Reflect on your work with any individuals in a teaching, mentorship, research, or advisory capacity who are from marginalized groups. How did you help them capitalize the strengths and overcome barriers to success? Think about your experience with research mentorship, teaching or tutoring, academic advising, and community mentorship (No more than 2 paragraphs).

Initial review of applications will begin on February 10, 2020 and will continue until the position is filled. An offer of employment is contingent upon background verification.
