Term Assistant Professor of Italian
The George Mason University, Department of Modern and Classical Languages, is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic person for a Term Assistant Professor of Italian, beginning August 2019
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will teach all levels of language, literature and culture courses in Italian. Teaching responsibilities are 12 credit hours (4 courses) per semester.
Required Qualifications: Applicants should be fluent in Italian and English, hold a Ph.D. in Italian, and have teaching experience in elementary, intermediate and advanced levels of language instruction. They should also be able to teach courses in English on Italian literature and cinema across a broad range of periods and topics.
Preferred Qualifications: Applicants who are able to create new courses featuring Italian-American studies, the Italian diaspora and immigration studies are particularly invited to apply. We seek candidates who have the energy and commitment to contribute to our vibrant program, which has a Minor in Italian Studies and an active student-led club.
