Job Announcement
Perform maintenance for a variety of different types of gardens and open space to include propagation and installation, invasive plant removal, and tree pruning and planting. Interpretive duties and other natural and cultural resource maintenance required as assigned. Some weekend work may be required. Early morning hours preferred.
Note: *This position may not exceed 900 hours per calendar year. Not eligible for employee benefits, such as medical, vision and dental insurance coverage, participation in flexible spending programs, earned leave or holiday pay.
Employment Standards
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, training and paid or volunteer experience working in gardens or in the landscaping field equivalent to the following: associate degree or experience in related field. Basic gardening and plant knowledge required.
Certificates and Licenses Required:
Must have access to reliable transportation. Must have ability to use a personal computer, Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Publisher; and ability to direct and coordinate the work of volunteers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to spend extended periods of time standing, walking, and ability to traverse rough and uneven terrain to inspect or work in remote park areas. Must be able to work in varying weather conditions. Ability to use a variety of tools and equipment including, pruners, string trimmer, mowers, hedge trimmer, saws, utility vehicles, backpack blower and others. Must be physically able to lift 50 pounds.
