Summary

This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration, Office of Innovation, Digitization Services Branch. As a/an Digital Imaging Quality, you will be providing agency-wide laboratory services and technical expertise in order to facilitate preservation and access to the content of Federal Records in the custody of NARA.

Responsibilities

As a Digital Imaging Quality Control Technician, you will:

- Provide technical knowledge and expertise related to image processing functions. Assure high quality digital images are provided to customers by means of effective processing techniques.

- Manage and approves digitization projects. Perform quality assurance and quality control on digital images to ensure compliance with agency standards; and defines and documents quality results. Utilize Apple Macintosh, Microsoft Windows, or similar operating systems to navigate file directories, organize files, connect to other computer systems, and interact with QC/ QA software.

- Authorize finished products for job completion and forwarding to the customer; work with management and the lab supervisor to ensure that only quality products are produced.

  • Qualifications

    You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

    SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: for the GS-09 level is defined as one year of experience at the GS-08 level, or equivalent, that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as experience:

    1. Verifying the quality, accuracy and consistency of digital products.; AND
    2. Managing and troubleshooting digital lab equipment (e.g. automated document scanners, flatbed scanners, digital cameras, digital copy camera systems, and film scanners etc.)

    In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
    For the GS-09, you must have been at the GS-08level for 52 weeks.

    CURRENT AND FORMER FEDERAL EMPLOYEES -- Documentation Relating to Your Federal Employment:

    You must submit an SF-50 which confirms both competitive status eligibility as well has highest grade/pay band level achieved. This may require that you submit more than one SF-50.
    • To verify your competitive status: Box 34 must have a "1" and Box 24 must have a "1" or a "2"
