Fairfax Associates, a boutique management consulting firm focused on the legal industry, is seeking a part time (c. 20 hours/week) Research Analyst. Fairfax, founded in 2011, provides strategy, management and financial consulting services to law firms across the US and internationally. Our US offices are in Washington, DC and Southern California, and our consultants are based in multiple locations. Work may be performed remotely from anywhere in the United States. Responsibilities. The Research Analyst will support our consultants on a broad range of activities, including research on the legal industry and markets, industry assessments, coordination and analysis of client surveys, data analysis, and management of the thought leadership section of the website. Assignments may include:. Preparing assessments of the business and legal market in key citiesPreparing profiles of individual law firms. Preparing master lists of law firms in key cities. Analyzing law firm practices and market positioning. Tracking law firm mergers and preparing an analysis of merger trends. Tracking leadership changes, office openings, and other events in the legal industry. Managing the launch and analysis of an electronic survey of a client's lawyers. Managing mailing lists for distribution of thought leadership pieces. Education, Knowledge, And Experience. Bachelor's degree required. Previous research experience a plus. Legal industry knowledge a plus. Skills. Strong skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint required. Experience with SurveyMonkey or other electronic survey tools a plus. Experience with qualitative research methods required. Financial analysis skills a plus. Strong organizational, oral and written communication skills. Ability to take initiative, work independently and in a team environment. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US
