Responsibilities

• You will complete routine installation, maintenance, and repairs on electric power control equipment, distribution lines, or electric-generating equipment.
• You will work from building plans and engineering drawings to repair existing electrical systems, controls, and equipment.
• You will test and troubleshoot power distribution systems based on grounded and ungrounded electrical system theory.
• You will troubleshoot high voltage lines (e.g., overhead, underground) to diagnose faults.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:
The incumbent performs installations and repairs work from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms that are occasionally in hard to reach places. This requires standing, stopping, bending, kneeling, climbing, working in trying and uncomfortable positions, and working from aerial buckets and poles, and in manholes. The incumbent has to handle and lift heavy materials and equipment such as poles, transformers, panel boards, switching gear, reels of cable, etc, that occasionally weigh over 50 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
The work is performed both indoors and outdoors under both hot and cold climatic conditions. Occasionally, emergency work is performed outside of inclement weather and also in areas that are extremely noisy. Works with and around high voltage and in vaults and stations containing transformers and switching gear. the incumbent is frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts and bruises, and occasionally is exposed to the possibility of broken bones, burns, and electrical shock. Requires to wear hardhats, high voltage safety gear (gloves, safety glasses, flash suit if needed) per OSHA regulations. May be required to work on energized circuits. Then incumbent is required to be trained in confined space entry.
