Summary

Joining the Secret Service, Office of Protective Operations, Office of the Chief, Uniformed Division (UDO), Presidential Protective Division (PPD), Special Operations (SOD) and the Vice Presidential Protective Division (VPD) will allow you to successfully perform the administrative duties necessary to support the operations and mission of the division. This Administrative Operations Specialist position starts at a salary of $57,510 (GS-09 step 1) with potential to $74,759 (GS-09 step 10).

Responsibilities

The selectee will serve as an Administrative Operations Specialist in UDO, PPD, SOD or VPD. Typical work assignments include:
  • Providing administrative support and implementation for financial/budget administration; training; inspections; recruitment; evidences and inventory control; record management; and human resources management.
  • Utilizing a variety of office automated programs, applications, tools and systems to generate reports, graphics, charts, graphs and PowerPoint presentations; creating and conveying metrics and data analytics that can be used by senior-level stakeholders to communicate initiatives; formulating budgets and overseeing administrative policies and procedural changes in office automated systems.
  • Reviewing incoming communication and preparing replies to general inquiries and routine actions; responding to administrative issues and inquiries; and resolving a variety of conflicts regarding administrative processes.
  • Preparing memoranda and official messages; advising internal and external stakeholders on all procedural and administrative functions; providing guidance on appropriate response to actions; resolving a variety of administrative problems related to staff actions and assignments.

Qualifications

GS-09: You qualify for the GS-09 level (starting salary $57,510) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level performing duties such as: performing day-to-day administrative functions such as: facilitating administrative, clerical, and office automation support functions; maintaining administrative files; preparing travel orders, managing property inventory, billing, and records management; analyzing data and communicating report findings to key stakeholders. OR

A master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related; OR

A combination of graduate level education and experience. This will be calculated using your résumé and unofficial transcripts or a list of courses/course hours submitted with your application.

Time-in-Grade: Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

  • Ability to communicate findings by preparing and articulating proposals and recommendations to officials, employees and other outside entities.
  • Knowledge of administrative principles, concepts, and procedures sufficient to identify, analyze, and recommend solutions to problems including budget allocations; procurement; travel management; quality assurance; and recruitment and personnel actions.
