COPILOT, a Credit Union Service Organization (CUSO) located in Alexandria, Virginia is seeking to find a professional Internal Auditor to join its organization. The successful candidate will assist the manager and Senior Manager of Internal Audit in the execution of client audits and consulting engagements. The position plays an integral role in testing the reliability and integrity of information, client policies and procedures, safeguarding of client assets and the economical and efficient use of resources. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for preparing preliminary and final reports of the audits which includes information such as recommendations, action plans, audit ratings and distribution of the final report. Responsibilities: Independently plan and perform all assigned audits and recommend enhancements. Perform evaluations of the overall adequacy of the client's internal control systems by testing sample files and accounts and report findings to the Senior Manager - Internal Audit. Assist in the follow-up of all open audit issues and management action items to determine if agreed upon improvements were implemented. Assist the Senior Manager - Internal Audit in maintaining the audit findings / issues tracking report for clients and providing formal follow-up for all internal audit and external audit reports and recommendations. Provide the Senior Manager - Internal Audit with a monthly report summarizing results of audit and non-audit activities. Perform process analysis and best practice reviews as assigned and provide recommendation to the Senior Manager - Internal Audit as appropriate. Assess issues and concerns, offering opinions where applicable. Assist the Senior Manager - Internal Audit with special projects, continual reviews, and unscheduled audits as necessary. To work with the Senior Manager - Internal Audit in completing COPILOT's annual audit and consulting engagements in an efficient and timely manner. Complete all assigned audits and engagements. To independently perform and prepare audit reports which contain areas of concern identified from the audit, appropriate recommendations, and the rating for the audit. To help facilitate resolutions to audit findings and recommendations. Desired Skills and Experience: 3-5 years Audit or Accounting experience is required showing proven knowledge as an Internal Auditor. Familiarity with regulations which govern financial institutions is a plus. Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or similar discipline or equivalent experience. CISA, CISM, CRISC, CIA or CPA is highly preferred. Strong technical knowledge in Excel, Word, Outlook and other audit/accounting software packages. Proven knowledge of auditing standards and procedures, laws rules and regulations. A high level of analytical, written/verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal and relationship building skills. Sound independent judgement. Ability to multi-task and adapt to change. The ability to travel on a limited basis.
