POSITION PURPOSE: The District Manager oversees recruiting, training and development, management, budget compliance, and overall operations of restaurants to ensure excellent guest experiences, sustainable team member and manager pipelines, and maximum profitability. The District Manager delivers results through constant coaching and leads with a focus on the company's core values. RESPONSIBILITIES: Serves as a role model for the company; represents the image and leadership style that is reflective of the company's core values Sets a vision for their district in line with company goals - Has a clear understanding of, and is able to perform, every role in the restaurant Inspires and fosters an entrepreneurial spirit within each restaurant with a passion for excellence Builds a top performing team of hourly staff and managers through recruiting, training, and development by providing constant coaching and feedback Responsible for identifying talent within their district and developing a sustainable pipeline of people from hourly Head Roles to District Managers Participates in recruiting, hiring, development, and placement of all salary and hourly managers - Utilizes development journals to own the training, cross training, and development of General Managers Ensures manager evaluations are completed and delivered in a timely manner Has a strong understanding of HR policies and procedures. Educates General Managers and enforces all appropriate personnel policies, Federal and State labor laws, and security and safety procedures Leads difficult conversations, manages performance, and resolves potential conflicts amongst team members in a confidential manner Holds monthly management meetings to ensure alignment of goals within restaurants Holds teams accountable for excellence in food quality, consistency and execution, throughput, cleanliness and maintenance, and guest experience Partners closely with other departments and acts as a liaison to remove obstacles and provide additional support for the restaurants Analyzes information gathered by customer comments, secret shoppers, etc. to identify current and potential problems and puts a plan in place to improve results Develops budget and cost controls for each restaurant within assigned district Monitors financial performance, and factors contributing to financial performance, including but not limited to: labor costs, food costs, and operating expenses to ensure efficient, profitable restaurant operations Regularly reviews district and financial reports and results Inspires and challenges General Managers to identify and implement ways to increase revenue and optimize costs without damaging the restaurant team, the brand, or the guest relationship Performs administrative tasks associated with the effective management of restaurant operations, including compiling, storing, and retrieving operations data for reports Develops annual business plans identifying key initiatives and priorities - Responsible for the execution of upcoming initiatives, marketing promotions, and local store marketing events Confidently handles guests complaints, concerns and service issues with grace; focuses on finding solutions and resolving issues quickly to protect the experience for our guests Depending on the needs of the business, may complete other duties as assigned to advance or resolve a particular project or business issue REQUIREMENTS: 5+ years of multi-unit restaurant or retail management experience BS/BA desirable Strong leadership, people management, customer service, and positive interpersonal skills Strong computer skills and prior experience multi-tasking Sound verbal and written communication skills Considerable success in achieving bottom line goals Previous success as a restaurant manager Flexibility in schedule with the ability to work early mornings, weekends, and evenings Must have State/Local Food Handler's certifications (varies by city and state) Must have State/Local Alcohol Training and/or certifications (varies by city and state) THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL: Passionate about sustainable people development, food and health Ability to develop positive working relationships with all restaurant employees and work as a part of a team by helping others as needed or requested Possess an extremely strong work ethic Ability to be solution oriented with a passion and desire to get to yes Ability to speak clearly and listen attentively to guests and other team members Ability to maintain a professional appearance at all times and display a positive and enthusiastic approach to all assignments Ability to demonstrate a complete understanding of the menu
