Adjunct/Part-Time Faculty - Media Production
The George Mason University Department of Communication invites applications for possible part-time Adjunct Faculty vacancies, beginning Fall 2016, with expertise in the following areas: * Multimedia Web design; * Adobe CS or Creative Cloud; * Apple Final Cut Pro 7 and/or X; * Digital photography/videography; * Multicamera studio production; and * Broadcast/multimedia journalism.
Responsibilities: * Instructs students in a classroom, lab, learning center or other setting as appropriate; * Provides student contact before or after class, or via telephone, e-mail exchanges or office hours where facilities and schedules permit; * Prepares, distributes and utilizes instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media and other devices as appropriate; * Incorporates the latest classroom technology when available and appropriate into instructional activities; * Structures classes and curriculum to correspond with the overall program objectives, prepares clear objectives for students in each course, and maintains and revises curriculum to maintain currency; * Understands, develops and provides a learning environment that supports diversity and incorporates sensitivity to diversity within the college community; * Responsible for classroom, laboratory and departmental equipment, and provides for the security of facilities and instructional materials as appropriate; * May direct aides and Federal Work-Study students as assigned; * Understands and uses the university's Blackboard system; * Demonstrates competence and interest in the use of technology in the classroom; and * Maintains a willingness to explore new instructional methodologies.
Minimum Qualifications: * Master's degree with at least 18 graduate hours in communication, multimedia, or journalism. Equivalent professional experience will be considered; * Teaching experience; and * Substantial creative services experience.
