Responsibilities

As a Construction Control Representative within the Office of Management Services, some of your specific duties will include:
  • Collaborating and providing advisory services on all aspects of project management related to planning, designing and implementing construction projects.
  • Developing review findings, preparing presentations, and providing reports and briefings to Branch Chiefs, Executives and Headquarters management staff.
  • Serving as Program/Project Manager and Contracting Officers Representative (COR) for various projects including planning, acquisition, and management.
  • Investigating a variety of issues in construction and renovation projects. Developing and reviewing contract modifications resulting from unexpected site conditions.
  • Planning, organizing, and conducting unique special projects, investigations, analysis and reports.
  • Operating a government vehicle in the performance of official duties.

Physical Demands:

This work requires standing throughout the day, possibly for long stretches at a time. Regular and recurring field inspections involve a considerable amount of physical activity, including walking, climbing, bending and stooping. May be required to lift up to 75 lbs.

Work Environment:

Some work is performed in an office setting. There will be frequent visits to construction areas which expose the incumbent to a variety of hazards associated with construction activities, including high noise levels, dust, moving equipment, chemicals, potentially hazardous waste, etc.

Are There Any Special Requirements For This Position?

If you are qualifying based on specialized experience, you must meet the requirements listed below:

For GS-11: Specialized experience may include work as a construction inspector, craftsmen or mechanic engaged in construction work which included responsibility for interpreting plans and specifications; inspecting materials and workmanship for adherence to such plans and specifications; and ensuring adherence to safety requirements.

For GS-12: Specialized experience may include performing construction related work, including estimating material and labor costs for a variety of construction or maintenance projects, such as construction trade work that involved mechanical, electrical, and plumbing. This work ranges from one- or two-story buildings to larger, multi-story structures. Experience may also include directing actual work operations and maintaining appropriate contacts with the organization funding the project; conducting surveillance activities over construction and maintenance operations performed by a variety of private contractors; reviewing project plans and specifications for workability; informing contractors of construction and reporting requirements; and supervising operations for conformance with project plans.
