Summary

You will serve as a SECURITY GUARD in the Physical Security Directorate (NO1S), Office of the Chief Staff Officer of COMNAVSPECWARDEVGRU.

Responsibilities

  • You will provide physical security for the premises to ensure the safety and/or welfare of persons on the compound.
  • You will provide appropriate response to breaches in physical security control (e.g. locks, fences, gates, and other barriers).
  • You will control compound access to determining identity, purpose of visit, and destination for all personnel and visitors.
  • You will deny access to personnel/visitor with authorization and proper identification to prevent unauthorized access to compound facilities.
  • You will interact with public tactfully to provide assistance to general questions and non-emergency situations.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

  • Selectee must pass pre-employment and an annual physical agility test and medical examination in accordance with local SOP and Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program (AR 190-56).
  • Selectee must satisfactorily complete phase I training for civilian security guard personnel within six months of entering on duty per CNICINST 3502.2.
  • Selectee must complete annual sustainment training on or before the anniversary date of initial or previous annual training.
  • Selectee must successfully obtain and maintain CPR certification and complete first aid training.
  • Selectee must possess the mental disposition and ability to deal with uncooperative, unruly, and potentially dangerous individuals.
  • Selectee may be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Selectee must obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license and a government driver's license.
  • Selectee must work rotating shifts and other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays, to cover a 24 hour/seven days a week operation. Shift assignment is subject to change at any time.
  • Overtime may be required, at times with minimal notice.
  • Selectee is required to report to the command when requested.
  • Selectee must be able and willing to accept an emergency/mission essential position which requires me to report to work and/or remain at work regardless of inclement weather; national disasters/emergencies.
  • This position does not meet the definition of Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) and is excluded from coverage as an LEO for purpose of the Federal Employment Retirement System-Basic Annuity IAW 5 CFR, Part 842, Subpart H.
  • Selectee may be required to travel on military or civilian aircraft or waterborne craft, deploy onboard ships, or serve at remote sites as required.

Qualifications

GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing security functions such as assisting with the detection, apprehension, and detention of violators for appropriate disposition.

GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing security functions such as protecting property and guarding a broad range of highly sensitive items from hazards such as trespass, theft, and accidental or willful damage/destruction within installations or restricted areas

ADDITIONAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Selectee must be able to obtain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the applicant fails to report to the scheduled drug test appointment. Incumbents of drug testing designated positions will be subject to random testing. Please Note: Marijuana is a Schedule I drug under the Controlled Substances Act and therefore use of marijuana is illegal under Federal law regardless of State laws. A positive drug test result for marijuana (or any other drug tested for) will result in withdrawal of the tentative job offer and ineligibility to apply for a position within the Department of Defense for 6 months from the date of the drug test.

Selectee is required to wear a standardized uniform while performing official duties. The employee is responsible for the upkeep and serviceability of uniform items, which may be issued and periodically replenished by NSWDG or employee may receive funds to purchase and replenish uniform items annually at the government's discretion.

This position requires access to firearms or ammunition. The Federal government is prohibited from employing individuals in such position who have ever been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, or a felony crime of domestic violence adjudged on or after 27 November 2002. Selectee for such position must submit a completed DD Form 2760, Qualification to Possess Firearms or Ammunition, before a final job offer can be made. The selectee will, at a minimum, have constructive possession of weapons. Consequently, this position is covered by the domestic violence amendment (Lautenberg Amendment) to the Gun Control Act of 1968.

Selectee must be proficient in the use of all assigned firearms and non-lethal weapons. Must successfully complete initial qualifications and maintain those qualifications with all weapons/weapons system (firearms, batons, pepper spray, etc.) as required by manufacturer, command policy, Navy regulations, or higher authority as well as with other self-defense tactics and techniques.

Selectee may be required to travel or perform temporary additional duty assignments up to approximately 5% of the time both inside and outside the Continental United States. May be required to travel on military or civilian aircraft or waterborne craft, deploy onboard ships, or serve at remote sites as required.

If selected below the full performance level, you may be noncompetitively promoted to the next higher grade level after meeting all regulatory requirements, and upon the recommendation of management. Promotion is neither implied nor guaranteed.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience stated above, an applicant may qualify based on the following conditions:

GS-05: Have successfully completed four years of education above high school level.

OR

Have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent
