Summary

You will serve as a Flight Test Pilot in the Force A/C Test Platform Coordination Branch, Force Aircraft Test Division, Integrated Systems Evaluation, Experiment and Test Department, Test and Evaluation Group of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV.

Responsibilities

  • You will serve as a flight test pilot and the C-130 Platform Coordinator at VX-20.
  • You will be responsible for maintaining general project management of all C-130 Test and Evaluation support tasks assigned to Patuxent River, MD.
  • You will act as the VX-20 central point of contact for all C-130 related projects/matters at NAS Patuxent River.
  • You will be responsible for safe execution and technical quality of a diverse array of C-130 tanker support and ground/flight test projects covering multiple engineering disciplines.
  • You will ensure safe and appropriate buildup and compliance with flight clearances and NTWL/VX-20 operating procedures.
  • You will plans conducts and report on ground and flight tests of the C-130 aircraft to determine if air vehicle and mission systems performance meet mission suitability and prescribed levels of safety.

  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). You must be certified as a Career Field Test and Evaluation Level III. Certification is required within 24 months of appointment.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current pilot NATOPS qualification and currency, including flight physiology and water survival training.
  • You will be required to obtain prior to appointment and maintain a current FAA 1st class medical certification.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.


Qualifications

You must have at least 1750 hours of total flight time AND your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the DS-05 (GS-12/13) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: at least 1,750 hours of total flight experience AND one year of specialized experience equivalent to DS-05 pay band (GS-12/13 equivalent) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing some or all of the following duties: 1) Demonstrating knowledge of testing techniques of developmental/substantially modified aircraft and aircraft systems; 2) Planning, conducting, and reporting on ground and flight tests of military aircraft to determine if air vehicle and mission systems performance meet mission suitability and prescribed levels of safety; 3) Managing project/program requirements, objectives, and metrics and resolving conflicts among schedules, funding, and resources; 4) Instructing or evaluating pilots in advanced instrument flight techniques and training replacement pilots.
