Summary

This position is in the Office of Intelligence, Security & Emergency Response, Intelligence Division, DOT. The division is responsible for providing all-source intelligence products to the Secretary and senior departmental staff, ensuring they are apprised of developments and long range trends in international terrorism and global and international topics concerning aviation, trade, transportation markets, trade agreements and related topics in international cooperation & facilitation.

Responsibilities

As a Supervisor, Intelligence Operations Specialist, you will:
  • Conduct detailed daily research using national security sensitive systems and complex databases to identify information and intelligence reporting of critical importance to the Department.
  • Coordinate through direct professional contacts and use of national systems, the Departments intelligence requirements needs and receipt of all relevant intelligence community reporting.
  • Develop and implement strategies to assure proper alignment of available analytical resources to effectively meet intelligence production requirements.
  • Review and prioritize intelligence production needs and conducts direct customer coordination as required to clarify requirements and solicit feedback.
  • Supervise assigned intelligence operations specialists performing intelligence analysis, production, and dissemination functions within the Intelligence Division in the Office of Intelligence, Security, and Emergency Response and assigns and reviews work; evaluates employee performance; recommends selections for new hires, promotions, awards, and disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure all Division intelligence products are created and drafted in compliance with intelligence community standards of analytical tradecraft.

The S-60 Intelligence Division seeks a professional intelligence analyst with general supervisory experience and detailed personal experience in using the intelligence cycle/process in the production of tailored all-source intelligence assessments and briefings in support of a broad customer base with information needs across a wide spectrum of national security, economic, and policy issues. The selectee should have general experience in supervising and managing a small team in the development and production of intelligence assessments and briefings in accordance with intelligence community analytical standards using prioritization and time management techniques. The selectee must exhibit a clear history of being able to coordinate, collaborate, and communicate with customers in order to understand their intelligence information needs and respond to those needs under limited time constraints and lead other analysts in doing the same. Additionally, the selectee must demonstrate past experience in conducting collaboration and cooperation across multiple elements of the Intelligence and Law Enforcement Communities, as well as with other Federal, State, Local and Industry partners in order to develop comprehensive intelligence products.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • DEU REQUIREMENTS: Applicants selected under delegated examining procedures may be required to successfully complete a one-year probationary period (unless already completed).
  • TSSCI clearance required

Qualifications

To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet the experience qualifications for the grade at which you are requesting consideration.

To qualify for the Grade 14, you must have at least one year of experience equal or equivalent to the GS-13, it must include:
  • Experience applying intelligence techniques in preparing studies and reports that directly or indirectly affect the national security.
  • Experience leading team members in preparing intelligence reports, summaries, assessments and briefings that supports decision making at the Senior Executive Service level and above or equivalent.
