This position is located with the Risk Management Agency, Deputy Administrator for Insurance Services, Risk Management Services Division located in Washington, D.C.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring compliance with the programs and policies of the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation administered by the Risk Management Agency (RMA) in particular, good farming practice determinations, large claim reviews, and final agency determinations.
  • Full and independent responsibility for program planning, training, development, and implementation.
  • Conferring with superiors within RMA and USDA to insure that these policy making officials are provided with technical program advice on specific policies, program analysis strategies, alternatives, and related issues.

Qualifications

You may start at the GS-14 level if you meet the following qualifications:
  • Specialized experience;One or more years of specialized work experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-13 grade level in Federal service that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position being filled. Specialized experience must demonstrate the ability to manage programs related to planning, directing coordinating and supervising the work activities of a staff of professionals, administrative, and support personnel in an agriculture insurance, reinsurance, or risk management industry. This experience must have been gained through a broad range of managerial assignments with judgment and analytical skills to analyze and weigh recommendations on policy and program operations.
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.

Time in grade:
Current Federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.


Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
